What
The Terminator In-Field is ReliBond’s machine for field installation of HV and EHV cable connections. It brings a controlled, machine-driven connection process directly to the installation site, making it possible to achieve consistent, factory-grade results outside of a controlled environment. Built for demanding field conditions, it delivers a repeatable and reliable process while reducing the need for highly specialized manual work.
How
It establishes the electrical connection between the cables using Cold Spray technology directly in the field. The machine applies metal powder to the cable ends at supersonic speed, creating a dense and highly conductive metallic layer. The process finishes with a silver layer that creates a silver-to-silver connection, enabling a reliable electrical connection, even for an aluminium-to-copper transition.

What
AlCuCon is ReliBond’s connector system for permanently connecting two HV or EHV conductors inside the cable joint. It forms the physical connection between the prepared conductor ends and is designed as an integral part of the finished cable joint. While the Terminator moves on to the next installation, the AlCuCon remains with the joint, providing a stable and reliable connection throughout the cable’s service life.
How
Each AlCuCon connector is tailored to the project’s specific cable design, conductor size and material, rather than relying on a standard one-size-fits-all solution. It brings the prepared conductor ends together in a mechanically stable, low-resistance connection. The silver contact layers created by the Terminator provide a silver-to-silver interface, enabling reliable connections across different conductor materials, including aluminium-to-copper transitions.
